Needs Improvement

I have the PDF versions of these courses that can easily be found online. However, I thought it would be neat to have a modern reprint of these classic courses but I have to say that I am disappointed in the quality. To give credit to the publishers, it appears that they actually took the time to re-write the text from scratch. This means that the text is clear and sharp as you would expect from any modern book. However, the pictures are another story. It appears that the pictures were scanned from an original copy of the courses and then just pasted into the booklet without any type of modifications or enhancements. The end result...pictures that are blurry or faded and some are even distorted because they were re-sized without maintaining the aspect ratios. If the publishers had taken about 5 minutes to enhance or sharpen each of the pictures it would have made a world of difference with the quality of this booklet. I have removed two stars due to the poor quality of the pictures and the high price. Due to the lack of quality I would say this title is worth only about $5.95.

Be aware that this publisher has released several other classic exercise titles and I would guess the quality of the pics is the same.

Historically/Academically dubious, but still very interesting

First the Bad: This work relies on drawing very specious connections to make its point, that the "Christ myth" is actually taken from the Hindu legends of the God Murugan. In actuality, the connections have little to do with the Biblical account of Jesus and more to do with later High Church theology. Even then, the similarities aren't between Christ and Murugan, but Christ and Mithras, and the author's attempt to connect Murugan with Mithras is its most strained and inneffectual moment, IMO. The author tries to make any mythology with peacocks part of one massive story, but I simply am not convinced. This is really just one more example of a New Age effort to create one world religion in time for 2012.

But now the Good: Viewed as poetry and metaphor, and not as a scholarly work, the text becomes very interesting. There are very intriguing connections made in the work, especially on the subject of Lucifer and the recurring use of Twin Brothers in mythology. Scholastically, these points are strained, but there is a poetic ring of truth in it, much like Robert Grave's "White Goddess".

So, on one hand the academic, thinking me finds this work totally ridiculous and not even worth consideration. On the other hand, the poet in me is drawn to the themes, morality, and other-worldliness of the author's conclusions. Decide what's more important to you.

An iconoclastic, and highly recommended study

The Truth Behind The Christ Myth: The Redemption Of The Peacock Angel by Mark Amaru Pinkham, offers the original, iconoclastic hypothesis that the origins of belief in Jesus Christ lie in a Son of God myth from India concerning Murrugan, the Peacock angel. Numerous similarities in the belief are historically traced, as well as other circumstantial evidence that Murrugan's legend influenced the story told and believed by the first Christians. Pinkham goes even further to provocatively propose that the Peacock angel is indeed a real entity, and is known under other names in different cultures -- perhaps even by the stigmatized name "Lucifer" in the West, though his ultimate role is surely far different from the unmitigated wickedness that Western tradition has been known to ascribe the chief of the fallen angels. A welcome and original contribution to metaphysical studies, The Truth Behind The Christ Myth is an iconoclastic, and highly recommended study blending historical evidence and new age thinking.

Folks after spending more money on my real estate education than anyone you likely know ... THIS BOOK IS WORTH HUNDREDS of times what she's asking for it. Generally, you'll get a piece here, a piece there ... BUT THIS ... is by far, more complete than any other course I've read. Including some I've paid thousands for.

A very easy read ... well thought out ...

I have NOT personally met the author, nor have I received ANYTHING for this endorsement, something I rarely do ... but ... this book, is truly THAT GOOD!

Fairly comprehensive

Book is a very nice hardback tracing the origins of AP from the very beginning to the modern day with good text and pictures. Several pages are used to recount the history of he Royal Oak alone. Beautiful pictures. My only squabble is I wish it had a comprehensive list with pictures of every model and version to the present instead of selected examples for each era.

This book explores the modern role of measurement science for both the technically most advanced applications and in everyday and will help readers gain the necessary skills to specialize their knowledge for a specific field in measurement.

Modern Measurements is divided into two parts. Part I (Fundamentals) presents a model of the modern measurement activity and the already recalled fundamental bricks. It starts with a general description that introduces these bricks and the uncertainty concept. The next chapters provide an overview of these bricks and ﬁnishes (Chapter 7) with a more general and complex model that encompasses both traditional (hard) measurements and (soft) measurements, aimed at quantifying non-physical concepts, such as quality, satisfaction, comfort, etc.

Part II (Applications) is aimed at showing how the concepts presented in Part I can be usefully applied to design and implement measurements in some very important and broad ﬁelds. The editors cover System Identiﬁcation (Chapter 8), Reliability (Chapter 9) and Electromagnetic Compatibility (Chapter 10) not only for their importance in many application areas, from manufacturing to health and safety, but also because their intrinsic complexity is the perfect test bench to prove the usefulness of the concepts introduced in Part I.
