About the Author
Lee Judah Ames (January 8, 1921 – June 3, 2011 ) was an American artist noted for his Draw 50... learn-to-draw books. He was born in Manhattan, New York. His first job at age eighteen was at Walt Disney Studios. He has since led a career as an advertising artist, fine artist, cartoonist, designer, animation in-betweener, illustrator, and as an artist-in residence at Doubleday. His series of 26 Draw 50... books take a friendly and minimalist approach to teaching drawing while the books often contain no instructional text. He enlisted in the military and served as a second lieutenant during World War II. He and his wife Jocelyn resided in Mission Viejo, California.

Great book!

I can't draw very well, so I bought this book to improve my drawing. This is a Great book for beginners! Gives you an idea how to start off and how it should looked finished! Awesome book as a "get started guide type". And After you got the idea of how to start to draw the monsters you can create your own. Perfect idea for kids that love to draw!

Great basic drawing book for the young AND young-at-heart.

Lee Ames does another excellent job, as he does with his entire "Draw 50" series. His step-by-step format is easy to use and quite rewarding as well. Ames is the only drawing artist that simplifies the drawings so that anyone can follow and become adept at drawing intriguing figures. This particular edition contains a great variety of characters to draw and will be on and off any doodler's bookshelf for years

I got this for my 11 year old Grandson for a Christmas present and he loved it.. i also purchased a sketch pad and some artist pencils for him to use and before he opened any other gifts he had the pad and book open and was starting to draw monsters. His mom said he just loved the book, so easy to use with clear instructions. Any kid who has a artist streak in him or her would enjoy the book...

Super hot frolic with a charming and heartwarming outcome!

Well, the possibly unique team of R.J. and the nameless newbie are on the hunt again. Hunting for ghosts, of course. This outfit of dauntless ghost hunters simply may become a truly classic duo. This is the second short story in the series and according to the list at the end of this book, Carnival Games is the second of three. However, when I read the first story, nine additional titles were listed. Ah, a mystery within a mystery. However, it is Carnival Games that should be my focus and allow me to say, this was another delightfully super hot frolic with an incredibly charming and heartwarming outcome for the team's primary focus. Thumbs up!

R.J. is a very active participant, coordinator, and entertaining leader this time round. The nameless newbie cannot ascertain, as yet, how R.J. knows where and when their next ghost hunting escapade will take place. I cannot either, but I am hopeful that somewhere along this series, this rollicking conundrum of R.J.'s almost mystical capabilities will be revealed. In the meantime, she leads her crew of two to a carnival, where they get a gig working the 'clown game'. R.J. is currently expanding her initials to be short for Raaven Jade. These imaginative names that R.J. creates could be expanded into a marvelous running gag within the series. However, only time will tell if I have guessed correctly and I hope I have. R.J. is flat-out sensational!

The unsung associate currently doesn't feel as special in R.J.'s eyes as when they first met in book one. R.J. will call her cupcake in a bit of an affectionate manner, grasshopper in her tutorial mode, or jackrabbit as if she were simply a sidekick. Oh my. She nevertheless is a gamer and when the real action seems to finally take off, she is hot on the heels of R.J. and ready for action. She is, however, still a bit confused. She wants to learn like right away! R.J. is certainly not a traditional instructor. Some of the interaction between R.J. and the lovely nameless newbie is almost like a kind of a risqué comedy routine, which I found especially enjoyable. One thing is consistent. Things can and do get really hot, really fast!

This Lesbian Ghost Hunter operation certainly does not lack for steamy and juiced stuff which is oh so devilishly stimulating. I needed my tall and cool, icy drink to stay focused until the extraordinary and touching conclusion that positively brought a tearful, but joyous sensation within my being. That was unexpectedly beautiful. I really look forward to the balance of the series. For now, I recommend this short story. It is a winner!

Happily ever after in the Big Apple

I thought this story was not bad. I liked the first book better because I thought there was more together time for the couple and I could watch their relationship grow. This story follows the couple after their engagement from the first book. They are still learning about each other and still crazy for one another.

Dislikes:

The ex that the H took to the charity event and lied to the h about from the first book shows up in this storyline a little too much. I could not understand why the H could not have done more to ban her from his clubs or have his peeps keep her away from the h if he wanted to protect her. I thought there was also way too much smex in this book. There could have been more bonding moments or non smexual together times. There were also a lot of arguments and fights. That is fine, but I felt like the heroine should have just walked out once so the H could grovel and get her back instead of her dropping her panties to resolve disagreements.

Likes:

I love the possessive alpha hero. Since there are dual povs, you hear his thoughts quite often and he thinks a lot about the heroine. He is so in love with her that he would do anything for her. At the same time, he is vulnerable because he is still somewhat uncertain about the heroine and is mega jealous when he sees the heroine smile at other men. He makes the story since he is uber faithful and fairly sensitive and did I say he is crazy about the heroine?

It's a sweet read. I am looking forward to the book on the heroine's best friend and her boss. They seem like a really cute couple!

Love does happen in New York

I received a ARC copy from the Author.

Lets start with that I couldn't wait to sink my teeth into book nr 2 of Finding Love in New York - Always and Forever. I love the first book so I went in with high expectation for book nr 2 and boy I wasn't disappointed.

In Always and Forever we take off where we left in Finding Love in New York. And things does take off. I don't want to give any spoilers.

We see Callum and Gabbys love for each other grow and just like in any real relationship we see the miss understanding and blowing things out of proportions. The relationship created by Mags between Cal and Gabs is amazing and I could relate to it.

Gabby is still a bit insecure with what is happening but starts to accept it. Callum is still a jealous bastard but his sweet and sexy side does come forward.

The love is hot and steamy and will have you fanning yourself after the read. There will be moments when you want to through your e-reader at the wall and moments where you need a tissue and your heart breaks with Cal and Gab.

I give Always and Forever 4.5 stars out of five. If you love Finding love in New York you will enjoy this one.

I can't wait to read Jen and Pauls story in A Love Betrayed.

I'm just wandering will we see a story of Suzanne and Mitch, fingers crossed....

The software package of the prior edition has been coordinated to the new CD and mounted to the Internet and exercises throughout the text have been revised to further emphasize real music instead of artificial textbook examples.

In all, Practical Beginning Theory prepares students completely for the first semester of major-level music theory. In can be used at two- and four- year colleges and it is appropriate for pre-college students who are preparing to enter a music major or for advanced high school music theory courses.

About the Author
Bruce Benward has been widely regarded as one of the most gifted music theory pedagogues since his textbooks first appeared in the 1960s, and has exerted a wide influence on the teaching of music theory both through his writings and through the generation of teachers that he taught. He recently retired from the University of Wisconsin at Madison.

Practical Beginning Theory Proves Effective

Learning the ins and outs of music is a difficult task evenwhen an instructor is available. "Practical BeginningTheory" is, in my opinion, essential for anyone attempting to become a musician. This book precisely lives up to its title claim of practical. This book is useful to anyone regardless of musical background. The book flows naturally from the raw beginnngs of musical study and gradually adds theory as one proceeds through the lessons. After a solid introduction to the tools and notation of musical meter and the notes of the staff the lessons gradually inculcate essential concepts intrinsic to musical construction. Even if one is an intermediate or advanced student of music the information within the first few chapters is still very interesting and should not be glossed over by any reader trying to get on to the "good stuff". The lessons and theory begin in earnest in each subsequent chapter. The sections on scales and triad construction are clear and exceedingly well illustrated graphically. The plain illustration of the logic behind music makes each lesson a boon to any musician. Lastly, The section on Harmony is complex and "practical beginning Theory" makes an intricate proposition such as harmony an understandable and repeatable enterprise. Although the material does get very dense the reader need only consult the index to review pivital lessons that are the foundation for the construction of Harmony. The book does an excellent job of applying each previous lesson to the next. The book teaches music theory so well that the student/reader is able to expand music using the knowlege gained from this book. It will teach every reader to play and understand the science of the art of music.

This was a book on my son's reading list from school. It was difficult to find elsewhere. I went online entererd the title in the search. Amazon.com came up, among others. It cost less to buy it new at amazon.com. Some sites had it used, pages missing, etc for much more than I paid.

A cut and paste book

I guess for someone who knows nothing about the War Between the States and St. Landry's role in it the book provides some interesting information. Most of the information was apparently "cut and pasted" from a variety of sources, including family trees, and no effort was made to explain discrepancies in dates or relationships.
