Agreat reminder of a fight and fights long past

Similar remarks to above Los Angeles area. There is great history of the game and the further they go back the better I like them as much was before my time and I am no spring chicken but to take aboard history of my sport is the reason I have such a big collection and this one gets a place of honour in it.

So Sorry - Not Sorry!

I have looked forward to this novel now for almost 2 years and am very very sad to report that I was disappointed - this is not normal for me, I have read everything published by this author and have her books in Hardback, paperback and ebooks- I have read all of them multiple times so to be disappointed is somewhat a shocking experience and overall upsetting reaction from this rehashed and copy/paste from prior novels mess of a book. I do not feel that we got to know Bastien or his family or his enemy at all....I cannot understand how SK can write a detailed /wrenching / life changing/emotional roller-coaster books like Styxx, Acheron and all of the League novels and then publish this re-edited blip in time as a continuation of this epic series. I do not and have not until now written a bad review- I respect what the creative process brings to the table but I am truly brokenhearted and feel very let down right now by an author I have admired, believed, respected and trusted for years.

Lost all hope

Like many I waited for this book and I am really disappointed. I have given up on her dark hunter series after Dragonmark was released and I felt massive disappointment for how that story was told. But I held hope for her league books because so far they were well written if not a little confusing but after this book I am done. I will not waste money I could spend on other authors books who still try to write an original story. I'am deeply saddened as I really have enjoyed ms. Kenyon's books but I feel she is just going through the motions. The sad thing is if you read them you can see where she is trying to go and they are great characters and beautiful story's but with what I feel as a rush job it's just not worth buying. Beyond that I truly think sherrilyn Kenyon is a great author and it saddens me to give a negative review but I had to be truthful in the fact that I wish I had saved my money

Severely disappointed

I am a die hard SK fan. I have nearly every novel she has written and have re-read them numerous times. I was looking forward to Bastian's novel because he has flitted in and out of so many of her story lines and I absolutely LOVED Julian's book. That being said, I was completely disappointed with this book. I don't feel that I know Bastian any better now then when I started the book. I have no feelings one way or another about Ember, her sisters, her son or Bastian's newest brother. There was very little character development in this book as there has been in her past novels. I would have loved to know more about Ember's mother and father, some background on Riot Squad, etc. In past novels, SK had the ability to make characters jump off the page and allowed the reader to become invested in the characters. Sadly that was not the case with this novel. This novel was basically large chunks of previous novels already written. I understood what she was trying to portray by placing the reader back at the scene of each encounter with Bastian, however whenever the scene shifted to Bastian's point of view, the glimpse into his feelings and perceptions were fleeting and just a glimmer of what could have been. The ending of the book was the only original part of the entire novel and it was sadly very anticlimactic and for the first time one of her novels felt rushed and unimaginative.
Even more sad was the fact that the extra story at the end about Thia, Julian, and Nyk was the best part of the whole novel.

Just in time !

We have no similar books in Physical Oceanography. It puts together the description of many useful techniques (including the modern ones) and it also considers pratical aspects of data collection and analysis. The text is easy to follow. The figures are very clear. Useful references are cited. Other geophysical areas can also benefit from it. Do I need to say something else !

In Data Analysis Methods in Physical Oceanography, Emery and Thomson have drawn together a broad range of information on data analysis methods in a single volume. It is an excellent book for the experienced researcher as well as upper level undergraduates and graduate students. It could either serve as a textbook or as a reference handbook. The focus of the book is on application of methods and not just theoretical description. The material is presented in the same fashion that data is approached, from collection to analysis. Particularly useful is that each chapter provides background for the topics presented; setting a context for understanding the material.
The first chapter reviews the basics of statistical sampling and how various oceanographic data elements are collected. It describes in detail the various methods used for collection and their inherent strengths and weakness. The second chapter moves from collecting the data to processing and data presentation; including calibration, interpolation and a variety of presentation formats. The third chapter presents the standard statistical methods and procedures for error handling. The last two chapters cover the range of methods used for spatial and time series analysis of data. This includes not only long established methods but more recent methodologies, such as wavelet transforms, as well.
A bibliography and set of appendices complement the text, making the book an all encompassing reference work. The authors have created an extensive bibliography that enables readers to follow up with more specific readings. The appendices include units in physical oceanography, a glossary of statistical terms, statistical tables, and non-uniform numbers.

This is a must have for all field oceanographers. The material is well organized and clearly presented. Excellent companion for intro data analysis and observational physical oceanography texts.
